Maria E. Psilis
Ms. Psilis focuses her practice on several areas of Employee Benefits Law, representing Fringe Benefit Funds in the multiemployer (Taft-Hartley) industry. She counsels Health and Welfare, Defined Benefit Pension, Defined Contribution Pension, Vacation-Holiday, Supplemental Unemployment Benefits, Joint Apprenticeship and Training Funds, as well as other types of Employee Benefits Funds on all aspects of Plan operations. She regularly advises Health and Welfare Plans on the various rules imposed by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“PPACA”), and also advises Joint Apprenticeship and Training Funds to ensure compliance with the regulations promulgated by the United States Department of Labor-Employment and Training Administration (ETA). Ms. Psilis also regularly reviews investment documentation for various health and welfare funds.
Education: Ms. Psilis earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2007 and her Juris Doctorate degree from American University-Washington College of Law in 2010.
Professional Affiliations: Ms. Psilis is licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan, and is admitted to appear in all State and Federal courts throughout Michigan. Ms. Psilis is a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP), and the American Bar Association (ABA).
