Katina K. Gorman
Ms. Gorman focuses her practice on the representation of multiemployer employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on defined benefit pension plans and defined contribution pension plans. Ms. Gorman advises clients on plan compliance with federal laws including, but not limited to, the Pension Protection Act and the Multiemployer Pension Reform Act. Additionally, Ms. Gorman assists with drafting of plans, amendments, and policies and procedures. Ms. Gorman has also helped clients navigate investigations and audits from the Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service. Ms. Gorman also routinely reviews investments documents for funds including investment management agreements and private placement memoranda. She also has substantial experience with preparing corresponding side letter agreements.
Furthermore, Ms. Gorman has substantial litigation experience. She has handled fringe benefit fund collection cases, as well as complex business litigation throughout all stages of the litigation process.
Education: Ms. Gorman earned her Juris Doctorate, Cum Laude, from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois. Ms. Gorman earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan.
Professional Affiliations: Ms. Gorman is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Oakland County Bar Association, and the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan – Oakland Region. She is also a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. Ms. Gorman is licensed to practice in both Michigan and Illinois.
